Why Chiropractic

Whether you’re a weekend warrior, athlete, or work behind a desk, we need to take care of the physical health of our bodies. When the physique is forced into repetitive movements, heavy lifting, or sedentary lifestyle, it molds according to it’s functions. In other words: “THE BODY BECOMES IT’S FUNCTION”.

We need to take action in bringing the body back to proper alignment with fluid movement and strength/stability. If not, then we are susceptible to injury which changes how we move. This in turn, predicts future injury as previous injury, motor control dysfunction, and asymmetry are all risk factors.

A Chiropractors Education and Experience

Before entering a Chiropractic College or University a student spends at least 2 years in college learning the basic sciences (although many get admitted with a Bachelor’s degree) before entering the Chiropractic program.

A Chiropractic program is 4 years of education with more class time than a medical school student (not including residency). Students are trained for 4 years on how to perform adjustments. By the time he/she is in practice the chiropractor has performed well over a thousand adjustments . Click here to learn more about chiropractic adjustments and gentle mobilizations.

Dr. Benz believes in Medicine and surgery only when medically necessary and is happy to co-manage patients with medical doctors and other health care professionals. He also believes that an individual will be at optimal health when:

13 Steps to Optimal Health

  1. There is proper nutrition including plenty of vegetables, moderate fruit, lean proteins, healthy fats, and sparingly consuming saturated fats, sugar, and alcohol.
  2. We are exercising almost every day for at least 30 minutes. Exercise should be tailored to the special needs of the individual. Health and fitness specialists should be sought after to ensure safety and effective programming.
  3. We get plenty of fresh air and healthy dosages of sunlight.
  4. There is proper sleep.
  5. We have a positive attitude.
  6. We learn stress management skills, such as, breathing techniques, bio feedback, mindfulness, time management and organization skills, etc.
  7. We have an occupation and or hobbies to keep our minds engaged.
  8. We have family and social support.
  9. We embrace spirituality and treat others with love, compassion, and understanding.
  10. A motivation to better oneself. This includes writing down your goals. Goal setting is important and it should include why, how, and when you will achieve them. You should try to set realistic goals in a reasonable amount of time; otherwise, you may be overwhelmed and lose motivation.
  11. There is LOVE in our life. This love can come from a companion, friends, family, or animal. Love is the most important part of life and it brings us peace, joy, and health.
  12. Get medical care when needed. Medicine and surgery are sometimes absolutely necessary. Getting your regular check up which includes, a physical exam with blood and urine analysis are imperative to managing your health. In addition, speaking to a psychologist/psychiatrist is also very important for your mental health especially during times of high stress. Please speak to your medical professional about your treatment plan.
  13. WE HAVE CHIROPRACTIC CARE or even other forms of body work. Thomas Edison said that the doctor of the future will “interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease”. That is the definition of a Chiropractor.
